Jacob is madly in love with Nystia, hand maiden to the One Empiric. As it's her birthday, he's whisked her off to the Sound Sphere, a hub of musical creativity. Only he's had to take the new recruit along as well; competition he could well do without. Plus, some unwelcome memories are suddenly haunting him while he's awake.
